Mostar by Motorhome: Where the Camper Problem Starts

Checked 27 August 2026 · Official sources where available

Quick answer

Treat Mostar as a “park first, explore on foot” destination. Do not drive toward the Old Bridge following the closest map pin and then look for a camper-sized space. Use a registered campsite or a clearly authorised motorhome parking option and walk/taxi into the historic centre.

Camper rule: local signs, protected-area rules and police/municipal instructions always beat a general country guide. Vehicle category can depend on height, axles and maximum authorised mass.

Why planning matters

  • Old-town approaches are not designed around large recreational vehicles.
  • An overnight parking spot is not automatically a legal campsite.
  • Bosnia’s camping rules are fragmented, so a registered facility is the low-risk choice.

Route tip

  • If arriving from Montenegro, sort insurance and border documents before departure.
  • If continuing toward Sarajevo, remember that motorway tolling may apply on parts of the Federation network.
  • Keep KM cash as a backup even though cards and euro cash are accepted at Federation motorway tolls.
