Montenegro has no national vignette. The two fees most camper drivers notice are the Sozina Tunnel and the Bar–Boljare motorway. A typical two-axle motorhome over 1.9 m and up to 3.5 t falls into Monteput’s third category: €5 for Sozina and €6 for the full Smokovac–Mateševo motorway section.
Camper rule: local signs, protected-area rules and police/municipal instructions always beat a general country guide. Vehicle category can depend on height, axles and maximum authorised mass.
Tolls that catch camper drivers out
- Monteput classifies vehicles using axle count, height and maximum authorised mass.
- For a two-axle vehicle over 1.9 m and up to 3.5 t, the published category-III price is €5 at Sozina and €6 from Smokovac to Mateševo.
- A heavier two- or three-axle vehicle over 3.5 t can fall into category IV: €10 at Sozina and €10.50 for the full current motorway section.
Insurance at the border
- Foreign vehicles must have valid third-party motor insurance for Montenegro.
- Whether the registration plate alone is accepted or a Green Card/IMIC is required depends on the vehicle’s country of registration.
- The Montenegro bureau lists Albania, North Macedonia, Türkiye, Ukraine and several other countries among those requiring a paper Green/White Card.
Where to be conservative
- National parks, coastal land and municipal parking areas can have their own rules. Do not equate legal parking with permission to camp.
- For Durmitor, Lake Skadar and other protected areas, use designated camping or confirm the current local rule before staying overnight.
- Kotor Bay roads can be tight and busy; larger motorhomes should plan parking before entering historic centres.
